Profile

From as far back as I can remember my favourite past time has been drawing or 'colourin' as I called it when I was three, busily choosing my next chunky Crayola pen to fill in my latest colouring book. That love has only grown over the years and a creative path seemed the only sensible one for me. Therefore in 2006 I went on to study BA (Hons) Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University and emerged three years later with a first class honours degree. Thankfully during this time my course leader placed much importance on drawing, which allowed me to nurture my personal style and ultimately led to a firm belief that this was the path I should pursue.

Every illustration starts with a crisp white piece of paper that I fill with a pencil sketch before getting to the truly fun part and picking up my fine liner to begin inking up my design, which excitingly I see grow and evolve before my eyes. For me the experience of pen in hand and the smoothness of the paper is head and shoulders above the click of a mouse. I am charmed by the inevitable smudges and creased corners that are a part of this process and delight in creating work that has energy and personality.
